IPP® Process Playbook for Bee4IT
“IPP® Process Playbook for Bee4IT” – New approach for successful Enterprise Architecture Management
Increasing digitalization, industry 4.0 and an ever more extensive networking lead to disruptive changes in many companies.
Companies and their Enterprise Architecture Management are therefore constantly facing new challenges. New demands require new partnerships between IT and business in order to provide the best possible proactive support for a future-oriented Enterprise Architecture.
Excerpt from the “IPP® Process Playbook for Bee4IT”:
„While IT is usually supposed to support the company’s business, digitization often leads to possible springboard innovations (disruptive technologies). Companies must then decide to use these and possibly change their business model completely, partially, or in special segments. No matter which path the company takes: The strategy and its implementation should be supported by the Enterprise Architecture.”
Technical Approach – Development of IT System Landscapes
For many years the main focus of the Enterprise Architecture has been the documentation of IT systems, interfaces, and technologies. Even today this is an essential component and often the start of an Enterprise Architecture Management motivated by the IT. These EA elements are often referred to as Technology Architecture, Application Architecture, and Data Architecture. In contrast, the Business Architecture (see chapter 1.2.2) was usually recorded, documented, and optimized by other organizational units, often in other applications, but ideally with interfaces to the technical elements. The aim of recording the IT system landscape is transparency regarding the used systems and interfaces. Only then a structured adaptability of the IT landscape and a reliable and long-term planning can be achieved. “
Lack of content-based and integrative orientation as well as dealing with day-to-day business hamper the implementation and planning of a structured IT landscape and a participating IT.
